Charles V's titles include being the 

• Duke of Burgundy and Lord of the Netherlands 

• King of Spain 

• Holy Roman Emperor and Archduke of Austria

Charles l, also known as Charles V, was born in 1500 and died in 1588. Several events were occurring during the time of his life and reign including the Protestant Reformation. He first started ruling as Duke of Burgundy, the place of his birth and gained a more significant amount of power when his father died and he became the King of Spain (Castile and Aragon lands). He was then elected to be the Holy Roman Emperor.
